“Today is Thanksgiving in the United States and traditionally a time to give thanks. It is a perfect opportunity to thank Lee Davy for what heās done for me along my path to sobriety. On May 25, 2014 I decided I had drunk enough alcohol to last me a couple of life times. A few weeks later, I posted my truth regarding my alcoholism on a sobriety web site using the name āSoberSusanā. Vulnerable and feeling very much alone, Lee was the first person to respond to me. His words of encouragement and support were like a lifeline across cyberspace. Since that time, I have gained so much from him that words fail me. Utilizing his web site āNeedy Helperā, I found nuggets of inspiration, education and liberation. His diary entries both entertain and inform. The pod casts let me hear real people with similar challenges who have overcome them; giving me hope for myself. Leeās style is not sugar-coated. (Thatās a pun if you know that Lee has kicked his sugar addiction; among other things.) His style is raw-no holds barred. But kicking addiction is not for the weak and I appreciate the strength he shows. A strength he makes me feel I can acquire too. As I look back, the alcoholic is not that far away in the rear view mirror. I truly believe I could not have come this far without Lee Davy and the āNeedy Helperā by my side. “The Needy Helper website, driven by Lee has totally changed the way I look at alcohol. Lee has been so generous in his support and knowledge sharing to assist me to stop drinking. I would describe my drinking as a casual habit. I would drink 1-2 times per week and usually 2-3 standard drinks (there would be a couple of times a year where it would reach 4 which would leave me quite hung over the next day). It was a habit that just crept up on me and I was keen to break it to show my children that you don't automatically need a glass of wine in your hand when socialising. The website is a great resource, the podcasts interesting and Lee like a rock in terms of the support he gives you. I've kicked this habit, so I'm sure I'll be asking Lee for further assistance in the future to better my life (...maybe to kick the sugar habit or to go 100% vegan!)”
